Mount Kinabalu Summit

Mt. Kinabalu, standing at 4,095.2m. (13,436 ft) above sea level, is the highest mountain in southeast Asia. Its foothills and surroundings has an incredible diversity of flora and fauna. The Kinabalu Park covers an area of 754 sq. km. (291 sq.ml.) with an altitude range up to the summit of Mt. Kinabalu thus encompassing the five main vegetation zones. The Park has become the focus of naturalists and nature lovers.

Itinerary

Day 1
Pick up from hotel lobby at 0730 hours and transfer to Kinabalu Park. Upon arrival, register with the Park office and then continue to the Power Station by coach (approx. 15 minutes) for the start of the climb. Commence climb to Laban Rata with packed lunch. The climb will take approximately 4 hours. Check-in at the Mountain Guesthouse. Free at leisure for the rest of evening. (PL,D)

Day 2
Wake up as early as 0200 hours and commence to the summit by torchlight. The climb will take about 3 hours. Witness the beautiful sunrise from the summit. Descend to Laban Rata Guesthouse for your breakfast, then to the Power Station. Transfer to Park HQ and lunch at park’s restaurant. Collect your certificate before transfer back to hotel at Kota Kinabalu. (B,L)
